She sat at the station. The woman looked middle aged, bored, and inherently uninteresting. Nothing about her stood out as pretty woman material. Nothing about her told the story of the countless families she tore apart. Yet there she was. And all of these things, the girl thought, were indeed sad. This was the woman that came before your mother, that went to that Alan Jackson concert, that caused countless tears. Life is short, she thought, as she sped away.
